About GMXMusic
GMXMusic features independent phonk artists on YouTube and hands their tracks to creators, free to use in their videos with credit. It works like a small label without the contract: every track is here because its artist said yes or chose a Creative Commons licence, and the artist keeps every right.
Where the tracks come from
- Every track has a licence on file before anything is published: an agreement with the artist (the two-minute license form, or the artist's yes by email, kept as the record) or the Creative Commons licence the artist chose for the original upload (CC BY, CC BY-SA or CC0).
- The evidence for each licence is kept on file.
- Remixes, edits, slowed or sped-up versions made by others, mashups, covers and tracks with uncleared samples are never featured, whatever licence they carry. Non-commercial and no-derivatives Creative Commons tracks are not featured either. A slowed version of a track we license is made only where its artist said yes to it in writing, labelled "(Slowed)" and credited like the original.
- The audio comes from the artist (their upload or their own download link) or from a platform that permits the download, never from a recording of a stream.
What the artists keep
- The licence is non-exclusive: the artist keeps the copyright and can release, sell or license the track anywhere else.
- Nothing is paid either way.
- The artist is credited in every description, with links to their pages, and creators who use the track carry the same credit line.
- An artist can ask for a video to come down at any time, and it comes down.
How each video is made
Every video is made for its own track, never from footage or images taken from someone else:
- the visualizer moves with that track's own audio, rendered from its master;
- its colours come from the artist's cover art where there is one (one of the channel's own palettes otherwise); where the layout has a soft backdrop, it is generated for that track on our own machine with an image model licensed for commercial use, from prompts that never ask for people, logos or brands;
- the title line, the description and the credit are set for that track;
- each Short is a different moment of the track, never the same cut twice, or, where the artist said yes, a slowed version of it labelled as such;
- mixes stay a minority of the uploads by rule, each with chapters and the credit line of every track, and a Creative Commons BY-SA track is only ever mixed with other BY-SA tracks.
The channel keeps one look on purpose, the way a label keeps one sleeve design: the frame is the same, what is in it is made per track. Each track's page here says how its video was made.
Using the music
Use any track in your own online videos, edits, montages, highlight reels and VODs, monetised or not, with the credit line from the track's page or the video's description. The artist agreements cover online videos; live broadcasts are not part of them. Creative Commons tracks follow their own licence (CC BY-SA: share alike, with credit). Never upload a track on its own as if it were yours, sell it, or register it with Content ID.
Taking a track down
Artists: reply to any email from us or write to the contact address at the bottom of this page, and the video comes down, no questions asked.
