GMXMusic Control Room - Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

The GMXMusic control room is a private, self-hosted tool operated by Andrian Potereanu to run the GMXMusic YouTube channel. It is not offered to the public.

What it accesses

The tool uses the YouTube Data API and the YouTube Analytics API on the operator's own YouTube channel: to upload videos and thumbnails, manage playlists, keep the channel's description up to date, post and read comments on the channel's videos, and read the channel's statistics. Beyond the operator's channel it reads only public channel descriptions through the Data API (the channels that artists link from their SoundCloud profiles, and creator channels found by search), to find a business contact address the channel itself publishes; nothing else about those channels is kept. When a creator or a partner channel sends us the link to a video of theirs made with one of the tracks (in a comment on the channel's videos or in a reply to our email), the tool reads that public video's details through the Data API to check that it is public, theirs, and credits the track; the video's title, the channel's public name, handle and link are kept to feature it, and dropped from the site when they ask.

Music artists' own channels are also found by searching the channel's genre among recent uploads in the Music category. For an artist's channel that publishes a business address, the tool keeps the channel's public name, link, description, subscriber and video counts and that address, and the public details of the channel's own recent uploads (title, description, tags, duration and view, like and comment counts), so that a track can be considered for the channel and the artist asked for permission. Nothing is downloaded: no video or audio is ever taken from YouTube. These details are read again while a track is being considered, and deleted after 30 days when they are no longer used (a track that was not chosen, and its channel once nothing of it is left), unless the artist and the channel are in touch about the track. Ask us by email (below) and an artist's data is deleted at once.

What it stores

Data obtained from Google is stored on the operator's own computer and is used only for the features above. Public comments on the channel's videos are kept locally so they can be answered. No Google user data is sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising or profiling.

Google API Services

The tool's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The channel's social accounts

The tool announces the channel's own public videos on the channel's own accounts: a Telegram channel, Bluesky, and, once the operator connects them, a Discord server, the Facebook Page, Instagram, Threads and TikTok (TikTok through its Content Posting API). It uses those platforms' APIs only to publish the channel's own posts, to read back their status (whether a post went out, whether a platform muted its sound), and to read the follower count of the channel's own accounts. It reads nothing about other users and never posts, comments or sends messages anywhere else; the one exception is the Telegram bot below, which answers people who wrote to it. Artists are tagged in these posts only with a handle they published themselves, and a creator whose video is featured only with the public YouTube handle of the channel that sent it.

Tracks sent to our Telegram bot

If you send a track to the channel's Telegram bot, the tool reads the private messages you send it, takes the links out of them and keeps, for each link: your Telegram user id and @username (to send you the one reply), the link, the track it leads to and when it arrived. The text of your message is not kept, and nothing else about you is. SoundCloud links are looked up through the SoundCloud API (the track's public details only), like any track the channel scouts. The bot answers you at most once a day, in that private chat only, with how to get the track featured; it never writes to anyone who did not write to it first, never joins groups and reads nothing in groups or channels. Ask us by email (below) and your rows are deleted; a track already stored stays in the channel's catalogue like any scouted track, without your Telegram details.

Spotify

The tool keeps one public playlist on the operator's own Spotify account, through the Spotify Web API: it searches Spotify's public catalogue for the tracks the channel published, reads that playlist and adds the matching tracks to it. It reads nothing about any other Spotify user and keeps only the playlist's id and link and, per track, the Spotify link it matched.

Email updates

If you email us asking for new-track updates, we keep your address only to send that weekly email and take you off the list when you reply "unsubscribe". Nothing else is done with it.

Every email the channel sends ends with a way to stop: reply "stop" (or "unsubscribe", or use your mail app's unsubscribe button) and nothing more is sent to that address, of any kind. To keep that promise the address stays on a do-not-email list, which is used for nothing else; email us from it asking for updates again and it comes off the list.
